Prior to joining the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Jaime Rivera Camino, was a researcher for the Marketing-IAG Unit at the Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium). His integrated view of firms led to multidisciplinary postgraduate training and MBA degrees from ESAN (Lima, Peru) and the Université Catholique de Louvain (magna cum laude), and two doctorates. He was awarded a special Dean’s grant from the Université Catholique de Louvain to complete a doctorate in Applied Economic Sciences (Marketing specialty) with thesis advisor Prof. Jean-Jacques Lambin. He obtained his doctorate in psychology from the Universidad de Comillas (Madrid) under the supervision of Dr. D’Etat Rolando Arellano Cueva of University Laval, Quebec (Canada).

Prof. Rivera began his teaching and professional career as an advisor in educational technology and a specialist in trainers’ training at the Universidad Nacional de Piura (Peru). He was also a marketing and sales consultant for several firms and later became senior consultant for SEI (International Executive Services).

He initiated his teaching career as a marketing and organization professor at ESAN for the MBA, PADE-Marketing and Executive Specialization programs. Prof. Rivera coordinated the Advanced Marketing Program and taught courses in strategic marketing planning, international negotiations, sales management, and organizational and consumer behaviour.

In addition to research, he also coordinates and manages bilateral cooperative projects between the EU and Latin American countries. Because of his integrated academic background, Prof. Rivera has served as EU expert in marketing and organizational design in creating trainers’ training programs and establishing business schools in Paraguay, Uruguay, Ecuador and Peru.

Prof. Rivera combines teaching with consulting and executive training for multinational firms such as Rank-Xerox Belgium, IBM-New York, Carvajal de las Americas, Cerveceria Paraguaya and National Panasonic. He is also a visiting professor at ESAN (Lima) and EDAN (Paraguay), UCUDAL (Uruguay), CEFE (Ecuador), Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico) and Arizona State University (USA).
His marketing research spans several industry sectors and includes applications such as population policies, international market entrance strategies, competition assessment and marketing plan design.

His marketing publications include four books and 27 articles published in journals including Eco-Management and Auditing, European Journal of Marketing, Gestion 2000, Geneva Papers Risk and Insurance, International Journal of Management, Revista Europea de Dirección y Economía de la Empresa, Investigaciones Europeas de Dirección y Economía de la Empresa, and ESIC-Market. His present research and teaching focuses on the ADI cycle of corporate competitiveness: audits, design and implementation of competitive market strategies and the use of communications technologies in developing virtual campuses for university undergraduate and graduate education.

Prof. Rivera teaches in the Universidad de Salamanca doctoral program and is a reviewer of DEA articles for the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He is also on the editing board of ESIC-Market and general coordinator for the Education for Management Program (Real Colegio, Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Harvard University (USA)).
