INTENSIVE 3-WEEKS PROGRAM


The pre-master’s is an intensive 3-weeks program before the beginning of the academic year (at the outset of September), designed for students with an academic background outside the Economics/Business field to go over the basics in Accounting, Finance, Statistics, and Essentials of Business that are important for a successful completion of the program.

COMPETENCES DEVELOPTMENT IN THE 1st SEMESTER


During the first term (September – January) 5 compulsory courses are held: Strategy, Marketing Management, Accounting and Finance for Management, Firms & Industries, and Quantitative Methods for Management. The total workload of the first term is 30 ECTS credits. Beyond contributing to the development of general competences related to independent thinking, problem solving, creativity, leadership, ethics and critical analysis of business and management issues, these courses have been designed to allow our students to acquire specific competences such as:

  1. Capability to understand problems in the business environment with the goal of identifying different strategic options for the firm.
  2. Understanding the process of decision making in marketing, from setting objectives and strategies to formulating decisions on marketing variables.
  3. Capability to analyze and understand the financial information of the company in order to identify and solve firm’s financial problems.
  4. Understanding the structure and dynamics of industries with the goal of identifying optimal strategies.
  5. Capability to understand and apply the main research tools.

FLEXIBILITY AND CHOICE IN THE 2nd SEMESTER


The second term is designed to provide flexibility and choice to our students. Students can choose 3 elective courses among a total of 9 courses included in the study program. In addition, the program allows the student to take a part-time Internship period, by offering the Internships course (6 ECTS) as one of the electives. Throughout the second term (February – June) student take 1 compulsory course and 3 elective courses (6 ECTS per course), summing a total of 24 ECTS. The academic year concludes with the defense of the Final Master Thesis (6 ECTS).

Along this second term, our students will develop the following capabilities:

  1. Capability to understand the key aspects of the management of innovation and technology
  2. Capability to identify ethical behavior in business and understand the importance of sustainable development for the company
  3. Capability to lead and motivate teams
  4. Capability to understand the main practices of human resource management
  5. Capability to apply knowledge learned throughout the master to real situations

The Academic Committee of the Master complies with the SGIC of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and it is responsible for the quality analysis of the program, it contributes with proposals to improve the program and produces the “Memoria Académica de Titulación”.

STUDENT PROFILE


SYSTEM OF COMPLAINTS AND / OR SUGGESTIONS


Claims, complaints and suggestions received and channeled through the Academic Committee of Quality, so that it is directly informed of all matters related to the quality of qualifications. The seat of that committee are reviewed and processed in accordance with established work schedules and noting in the reports of these committees.

Furthermore, claims, complaints and suggestions can be made outside the scope of the degree by presenting on paper, through the Registry, and also through the electronic mailboxes (OPINA System) found on the website of the degrees. All questions received, transfer is given to units or services concerned in order to reverse this information to improve the quality offered by the University.

Also through the University Ombudsman that ensures the protection of the rights, freedoms and interests of all members of the university community, against any violation of the current legislation by the services and bodies of the University.

MATERIAL RESOURCES OF THE PROGRAM


INTERNATIONAL COMPLEMENT


The Master in Management offers students the possibility of extending their curriculum in prestigious European universities, with which the Universidad Carlos III has agreements integrated in the Lifelong Learning program: Higher Education (ERASMUS). Currently we have, under the terms and conditions of the Erasmus Program, student exchange agreements with:

EXTENDED CURRICULUM


The International Complement of the Master in Management is a 6-month program placed at the end of the regular Master’s program that allows outstanding students to complete an extra 30 ECTS credits in any of the 4 universities with which we have exchange agreements. This extension is conceived in order to prepare students to:
  1. Broaden their horizons by exploring different national environments
  2. Strength their skills to live and work in another country
  3. Explore different views of management
  4. Complement their education in other topics of management, choosing among a wide range of subjects at the host university
  5. Develop their language skills
  6. Improve their capabilities to work with people from diverse cultures
  7. Experience alternative pedagogical methodologies for learning management

In previous editions of the Master in Management, our students have extended their curriculum in well-known institutions like Maastricth, Nantes and Humbold.

OFFICIAL RECOGNITION


At the end of this program extension, students will receive formal recognition for their academic study period abroad in the transcript of records and in the degree certificate.

ADMISSION


Interested students must request admission to the International Complement program to the Master’s direction at the end of the first term. The admission to the program will be decided by the Master’s direction on the basis of the academic excellence, as measured in terms of the average mark of the first term of the regular master program. There are a maximum of 4 places available.

After being admitted into the International Complement program, the enrolment application and fees for any subject in our partner universities will be managed directly from Universidad Carlos III.

program Fees are: 3,950 € (131.66 €/ ECTS credit) for EU students; 6,750 € (250€/ ECTS credit) for Non EU students.

The University will offer scholarships for all the students admitted to the program. Two scholarships will be for the 50% of the fee and two for the 30% of the fee. This fee reduction will be awarded on the basis of academic excellence/record within the Master’s.

INTERNSHIP EXTENSION PROGRAM


The Extension Internship Program allows post-grad’s students to work in the company in which they have interned or are still interning for an extended period after finishing their Master’s.

Procedure
Interested students must request admission to the Internship Extension to the Master’s direction. After being admitted in the program, the student should pay an enrolment application to Universidad Carlos III.
