I have taught actuarial mathematics and statistics courses in the following academic institutions: Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Universidad San-Pablo CEU, University of Nebraska-Lincoln (USA), ICADE, Concordia University-Montreal (Canada) and Heriot-Watt University (UK).
I have been working in the Dep. of Business Administration at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) since 1999.
I am currently the Executive Director of the Professional Master in International Actuarial Technique and Practice at UC3M.
My research interests are focused on stochastic processes, mainly barrier crossing problems and ruin theory. Also phase-type distributions and fluid models are relevant in my research preferences. I have made some contributions (around 15) published in ASTIN Bulletin, Insurance: Mathematics and Economics (IME), Scandinavian Actuarial Journal (SAJ), Stochastic Processes and Their Applications and some other refereed journals.
I also contribute as a referee in ASTIN, IME, SAJ, The Journal of Actuarial Practice, Annals of Operational Research and the American Mathematical Society.
Regarding my professional profile as an actuary, I hold a Fellowship of the Spanish Institute of Actuaries, membership of ASTIN, Affiliate Member of the Faculty of Actuaries, Master Thesis supervisor inMsc. in Actuarial Mathematics at Heriot-WattUniversity, Edinburgh and free-lance professional software developer.
